Instructor Bio: My quilting story is a long one! It began with a gift of a hershner’s cross stitch quilt kit for a queen size quilt! It took about 5 years to complete, but I did it! It was quilted on a Featherweight sewing machine!!!!! About 20 years later, the real story begins when a friend showed me the joys of quilting. I was hooked pretty quickly and made many quilts that were sent to a longarm quilter in another state. After a while, I purchased a Gammill Classic quilting machine and began a longarm quilting business in Vermont where I lived. As a result of the longarm quilting business, I began teaching classes and then writing patterns for all size quilts. There seemed to be a need for both in my area. My daughter Allison became interested in quilting also and was very excited to help with pattern writing business. She is an excellent quilter and will help with classes when available. Over the 30 years I was quilting and teaching, I gradually shifted to the teaching end of the business. I enjoy teaching and helping quilters improve their skills. I have taught classes in shops and guilds around New England, and at quilt shows in the area, the largest being the Vermont Quilt Festival. For 15 years or so, I organized and taught at a 3 day retreat each Fall. Most years, the group worked on a quilt that I designed and wrote the pattern for. In May 2025, my husband and I moved to Boise. I am looking forward to becoming a part of the quilting community here, and hope to meet many avid quilters.
