Quilts of Compassion



May Class Description
May’s Free class will use the “Foursquare” pattern.
This class is offered free in order to fill a need in our local community. As quilters, we have a wonderful
opportunity to bless others by providing quilts to provide warmth and comfort. Completed quilts will be
donated to a local organization which provides safe shelter, and additional resources to people who
have been rescued from human trafficking in Idaho. This free class is offered on the second Tuesday
of each month.

Supplies Required – May:
Pattern: Provided by Carolyn’s In Stitches during class

Fabric Requirements:
Throw 48” x 59”:
Blocks - Four Fabrics (2 Dark & 2 Light) 1/2 yard each
Background (Sashing) 1 yard
Border 1/2 yard

Twin 60” x 82”:
Blocks - Four Fabrics (2 Dark & 2 Light) 3/4 yard each
Background (Sashing) 1 3/4 yards
Border 3/4 yard

Sewing machine in good working order plus your ruler(s), and rotary cutter. Small cutting and ironing mats, and small iron are helpful.

Pre-Class Preparation:
Throw 48” x 59”:
From EACH of the Block Fabrics:
Cut Three (3) strips 5” x Width of Fabric (WOF)
Sashing Fabric:
Cut Twelve (12) strips, 2 1⁄2” by WOF
Sub-cut for a total of Twenty (20) 2 1⁄2” x 9 1⁄2” pieces and Twenty (20) 2 1⁄2” x 11 1⁄2” pieces

Twin 60” x 82”:
From EACH of the Block Fabrics:
Cut Five (5) strips 5” x Width of Fabric (WOF)
Sashing Fabric:
Cut Twenty One (21) strips, 2 1⁄2” by WOF
Sub-cut for a total of Thirty Five (35) 2 1⁄2” x 9 1⁄2” pieces and Thirty Five (35) 2 1⁄2” x 11 1⁄2” pieces

June Class Description:

June’s Free class will use a newly released pattern called “Wild!”. This pattern uses 10” squares
and takes 33 squares for the Throw size and 40 squares for the Twin size. This lets you use your stash,
or layer cake.

opportunity to bless others by providing quilts to provide warmth and comfort. Completed quilts will be
donated to a local organization which provides safe shelter, and additional resources to people who
have been rescued from human trafficking in Idaho. This free class is offered on the second Tuesday
of each month.

Supplies Required – June:
Pattern: Provided by Carolyn’s In Stitches during class

Fabric Requirements:
Throw 55” x 69”:
Thirty Three (33) 10” Squares
Inside Border 5/8 yard
Outside Border 1 yard

Twin 58” x 85”:
Forty (40) 10” Squares
Border 1 1/2 yard
Border 2 5/8 yard
Border 3 1 yard

Sewing machine in good working order plus your ruler(s), and rotary cutter. Small cutting and ironing mats, and small iron are helpful.

Pre-Class Preparation:
If you are using a Layer Cake, there’s no pre-class cutting necessary.
If you are cutting your own squares;
Throw Size: Cut Thirty Three (33) 10” squares
Twin Size: Cut Forty (40) 10” squares
