Idaho Crazy Cut Applique Pillow Class
In this class we will create a 12 x 16 envelope style pillow cover with a crazy-pieced, raw edged applique of Idaho finished with a blanket stitch.
Idaho Crazy Cut Applique Pillow
Materials:
½ yard fabric for envelope style pillow cover
5-7 different fabrics for Idaho shape. You can use scraps (flannel or cotton) at least 4” with some longer pieces.
Pearl cotton embroidery thread in coordinating color
12x16 pillow form
Supplies:
Straight stitch sewing machine & thread
Fabric and Paper scissors
Chenille needle #24 or #22
Fray Check fabric sealer
Optional:
Mini iron & mat
Optional Prep:
You can cut your fabric for the envelope pillow cover.
Front -16 ½ x 12 ½
Back Piece -13 ½ x 12 ½
Back Piece -9 ½ x 12 ½
To finish the envelop edge of the back pieces, press ½ “ to back of fabric twice and
topstitch. After stitching they should measure 12 ½ x 12 ½ , 8 ½ x 12 ½
respectively. You will not complete assembly of the pillow envelope until the
Idaho shape is stitched down.
* When cutting and sewing your envelope pillow cover fabric, be aware of direction. 16 ½ is the height
and 12 ½ is the width.
