Fabric requirements and cut according to the pattern:
●1 fat quarter for exterior
●? yard for lining
●1/3 yard for pocket lining
●1 fat quarter for binding
OR purchase 4 fat quarters and cut as follows (see layouts below):
●Cut 2 pocket linings, 2 exterior zipper binding strips, 2 side binding strips, and 2 zipper tabs from a 3rd fat quarter
●Cut outer piece and 4 pocket linings from the 4th fat quarter
●Cut 4 side pieces from 1 fat quarter
●Cut 4 lining pieces from another fat quarter
Additional supplies needed are as follows (somewhat different from the pattern):
●1-yard fusible web
●3 zippers longer than 10?
●1 ? 18? zipper
●Sew Together Bag Pattern by Sew Demented
●Sewing machine freshly cleaned and oiled with a new size 12 or 14 denim sewing machine needle.
●Know how to decrease the pressure on your presser foot.
●Zipper foot (optional)
●Thread snips and scissors
●Ruler at least 12? x 6?
●Small cutting mat (optional)
●Glue baste it or Elmer?s school glue
●Purple thang or something to use for ?pushing? out turned corners
●A snack or lunch with plenty of water to drink (you can always walk across the street to Jacksons)
●Cut and fuse the exterior piece, the 4 lining pieces (not the pocket liners), and 2 side pieces (check the pattern for details). This step is very important to do ahead to save class time!
●If this is your first time making the Sew Together bag, I recommend NOT quilting the exterior piece - it becomes harder to sew through all the layers when sewing on the side binding.
