We will learn how to identify parts of the Featherweight and their function. We'll learn all the oiling points and when and how to oil the machine. We'll learn when and when and how to apply grease to the gears and motor. We'll learn about stitch formation and how to troubleshoot stitching problems. We'll learn to disassemble and reassemble the tension unit to clean and remove corrosion and burrs. We'll learn how to clean the bobbin assembly, remove stuck threads and clear and prevent machine lock-ups. Also how to remove rough spots and deep scratches from the points critical for stitch formation. As time allows we'll learn how to adjust timing and fix other common problems. And we'll learn how to clean and polish our Featherweights and their cases. This class will probably require a follow-up session depending on the needs and interests of those in attendance.
We'll also learn about the tools necessary for working on our Featherweights and have the opportunity to purchase the tools and materials we need.
Please bring an old towel and an apron, your Featherweight, tools and attachments and a notebook and pen.
Class begins at 10:00 am and will go until at least 2:00 pm.
